A fine silver beech leaf with a sterling silver bee
Designed and hand made by Tishpa in the Causeway Coast area of Northern Ireland.
All my pieces are unique and handcrafted.
Material fine silver 99.9% silver (0.1% copper), sterling silver 92.5%, sterling silver chain
I took inspiration for this piece from watching a bee landing on the leaf of a copper beech tree in my garden and going about its business. As I had a beech leaf partially made , I decided to add a bee to the piece, making a unique pendant, and symbolising the importance of the humble bee.
The piece is made and patterned using fine silver clay which is mixed to a paste. This is applied to the back of the leaf in a thin coats. This leaf has 18 coats of silver paste When dry the actual leaf is removed, leaving the details on the silver clay. It is kiln fired to remove the binder, leaving a fine silver piece. A fine silver bail is attached to allow suspension from a chain. When process is finished a sterling silver bee is soldered to the leaf. The piece is cleaned and polished to a shiny finish. Each piece of jewellery I make is different. I believe everyone should have jewellery pieces that are unique to them
The pendant is suspended on a Sterling Silver chain measuring 45cm. The pendant weight is 4.7 g and it measures 2.8x 1.9 cm at the widest points. the total length of the pendant including the bail is 3.2 is cm
